About the Department

Duties & Responsibilities

The Berlin Township Assessor is responsible for listings and keep records for all real property in the Township of Berlin. Each year, the assessor is required by state law to individually place an assessment equal to fifty percent of the true cash value determining a property tax bill.

Notices

Change of assessment notices are mailed to taxpayers in February of each year, and include the new State Equalized Value{SEV}. After receiving this notice, a taxpayer may request an informal review with the Assessor prior to a more formal review by the Board of Review.

With the exception of a few records (real property confidential forms) all records in the Assessor’s office are available for review by the public during the normal Township business hours. For copies requested by persons other than the owner, a reasonable copy charge will apply.

Contact Information

The assessor will be out inspecting properties throughout the year.
